In early November 2004, I decided to start researching my family tree. There were three reasons that prompted me to do this.
Firstly, one of my hobbies is scrapbooking (preserving photos and memories in special archival albums). I was doing all the leg-work for my descendents (when it came to identifying who's who in photos) as well as laying down many memories for old age.
Secondly, both my dad, John Gleeson, and father-in-law, Charles Tijou, had been researching their respective family trees in varying degrees of depth. My dad, however, knew very little about his mother's side. I, being in England with access to all the documents and relatives, would be better placed to find out about it.
Thirdly, an excellent BBC2 programme, 'Who Do You Think You Are?' had been recently showing. Each week, a TV personality investigated their family and unearthed surprises, and guidance was given on how to do the same.
This site is for the benefit of my 'big' family but any and all are welcome to browse.
