REV. JOHN SMITH - PRIMITIVE METHODIST  1840 - 1915
Rev. John SMITH was the Maternal Great Grandfather of the Author and this Portrait was taken about two years before his death in 1915. Rev. SMITH was a Primitive Methodist Minister and Missionary. His Missionary work mainly occured in Aliwal North, Cape Town, South Africa. He and his second wife Fanny Elizabeth (JEARY) had seven children; two daughters and five sons. One son, Edwin William SMITH was a Weslyan Methodist Miniter & Missionary in Northern Rhodesia. Two sons Stanley Harold and Arnold Morley emmigrated to Canada. Arnold stopped first in Chicago, where he married before moving to Winnipeg. Stanley moved to Alberta where he continued the butcher trade that he learned from the JEARY Family in Martham, Norfolk, England.
