FANNY ELIZABETH (nee JEARY) SMITH 1852 - 1934
Fanny Elizabeth (nee JEARY) SMITH was the Maternal Great Grandmother of the Author and this Portrait was taken about 1930. She was the second wife of Rev. SMITH who was a Primitive Methodist Minister and Missionary. His Missionary work mainly occured in Aliwal North, Cape Town, South Africa. Fanny Elizabeth (JEARY) and Rev. John SMITH had seven children; two daughters and five sons. One son, Edwin William SMITH was a Weslyan Methodist Miniter & Missionary in Northern Rhodesia. Two sons Stanley Harold and Arnold Morley emmigrated to CanadaArnold stopped first in Chicago, where he married before moving to Winnipeg. Stanley moved to Alberta where he continued the butcher trade that he learned from the JEARY Family in Martham, Norfolk, England. On her grave markers in Coventry is an inscription, noting that her son Sidney Baldwin SMITH was reported missing in action in France October 18, 1916.
