I am researching from the TINGLER name back (all lines wherever they lead). My recent ancestors were all centered in West Virginia and many of my ancestors may be found on the Richard Phares or Alan Gathman sites and others which begin in the WV area. Although I am tracing all lines, I am particularly interested in my father's elusive predescessors, the TINGLER's. Ronald's father was Virgil Tingler. His father was Charles Tingler. His father was Zebediah Tingler. His father was Elias Tingler of Pendleton County, West Virginia (formerly Virginia). Elias was born about 1810. Does anyone know who Elias' father was. There is speculation that the name was DINGLER prior to Elias. This is because of a Michael from WV who used both Tingler and Dingler as his name. (On one official record, he uses them together). We do not know why he did this or what his relation to Elias is, if any. This page was created on June 26, 1998.
