Hi! My name is Laurie Tipton and I am just beginning to research the family trees of my husband's and my family for our son Nate. My maiden name is Backhaus, my paternal grandparents were Fred and Wilhemina Olerich Backhaus. Frederich was born in Rottenberg, Germany on December 18, 1905 and Wilhemina in Cuxhaven on June 20, 1904. My maternal grandparents were John Claps and Elizabeth Lisanti Claps, John was born in Italy January 1, 1900 and Elizabeth was born in New York, New York on March 14 most likely in 1902.

My husband is H. Randall Tipton born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Doris Lee Cox Tipton and Oliver Otis Tipton, both of whom were born in Knoxville also -- Doris on July 9, 1930 and Oliver on May 29, 1928 respectively.

As I am new to this and starting with only very sketchy details, I will appreciate any information you may have about our family tree. I will be glad to share any information I gather as well.
