| I am attempting to find information about the McCormick and Moonan ancestors of my grandparents(who emigrated to the U.S. from Ireland in the early 1900's). My g.father,William Vincent McCormick, was born 1893 in the small village of Carrowtrasna, near the town of Moville in Donegal. His father,James and g.father, Thomas, I believe were blacksmiths. I've been told the family originally came from Scotland. My g.mother, Kathleen Moonan, was born in Dublin in 1900. Her father, Patrick, and g.father, Thomas, were cabinet makers. Moonan and Sons had a business in Dublin (est.1865) at 27 & 28 Lower Buckingham St. They carved all the woodwork for St. Patricks' College Chapel in Maynooth in the 1880's. The Moonan's came from Ardee,County Louth originally.Any information about the McCormick or Moonans in the respective areas would be a great help. Contact me at skt49er@earthlink.com |
