The Tirol,Hontiveros,Miraflores Clan of Panay

Gabriel Ureta of Makato, Aklan, Philippines changed the name to TIROL about 1850 during Governor General Claveria's reform of family names in the Philippines. His descendants have intermarried with many of the descendants of Jose HONTIVEROS, whose family may have come from Spain through Chihuahua State in Mexico. This happened before the Mexican Revolution when all traffic from Spain to the Philippines passed through the Galleon trade with Mexico. Leon MIRAFLORES from Mandurriao, Iloilo was a priest in Tangalan, Aklan from the 1870's to the early 1900s, he fathered numerous children, many assuming their mother's surnames, including HONTIVEROS, DAROY, SANTAMARIA, TRANCE, SEGOVIA and many more.
The MIRAFLORES Clan of Manudrriao may have been of Chinese origin in Molo, the chinese Parian or Ghetto of Iloilo. Leon was just one of the many children of Florencio MIRAFLORES and Emilia PEDROSA, first cousins, who lived at the beginning of the 1800s. Their other children married into the JESENA, MILITANTE, MARAŅON, MIRASOL, FLORETE, TRESPESES, GONZAGA, MILITAR, PISON, CASTEN, and many other families of the Mandurriao, Molo, Jaro areas of Iloilo. One son had descendants in Manapla, Negros Occidental while another settled in the Camarines, Bicol.
