I'm researching the following surnames, Titlow, Didlow, Ditlow, Stine, Dunn, Henson, Hilburn and Bostick. My research has gone back as far as Abraham Didlow, the last name spelling was changed to Titlow when his son George Monroe Titlow wrote his name. Abraham Didlow was born in Pennsylvania in 1793. By 1820 he was listed in the census as the head of the household at Centre Township, Union County, Pennsylvania having a son under the age of ten. No wife was recorded. Other records indicate that his first wife was possible Elizabeth Caterman/Catherman. She died very early in the marriage. The records I have list his wife's name as Catharine Stine, however I don't find that they married until after 1820. Catherine Stine was born April 03, 1802, her father was Frederick Stine born, January 29, 1764. In the 1830 census they were at Centre Township, Union County, Pennsylvania. He spoke the Dutch (or German/French) lanuage. Family hand me downs claim his father or grandfather was in the Revolutionary War and was wounded at Yellow Creek or Yorktown. The marriage to Catharine gave birth to eight childern, five sons and three daughters.
He purchased 40 acres at Sandusky Ohio on August 10, 1837 and relocated his family. The 1840 census list Abraham Didlo at Bucyrus Township, Crawford County, Ohio. In 1850 Abraham Didlow is listed at Madriver Township, Clark County, Ohio. No census listing Abraham after 1850. Abraham Titlow was buried at the Fairfield Ohio Cemetery on July 7, 1853. Catharine Stein Titlow is at the same location buried September 12, 1875. Many other Titlow Family members are buried in this cemetery at Fairfield, Ohio.
Abraham Didlow and Elizabeth Catherman had one child George Monroe Titlow. Abraham's and Catharine's children were Mary (Polly) Titlow Braughmiller, John Titlow, Aaron Titlow, Lucy A. Titlow Miller, Henry Titlow, Priscilla Titlow Burches, and Lavina Titlow.
George Monroe Titlow was in Detroit Michigan in the 1860s and most of the 1870s and he was in Texas by 1879. While in Detroit George was a Constable in the the ninth ward.
