He married MARY CRAIN in Cumberland County, PA, daughter of RICHARD CRAIN and JEAN ESPY. She was born July 15, 1752 in Cumberland, Pa, and died January 08, 1824 in Titusville, Crawford, PA.

The Hamiltons, Reynolds, Indnis, Stewarts, and Prathers were considered the main and most substantial families of northwest Pennsylvania. They were the earliest settlers there and were mostly college graduates (Meadville College)

"Many of the Hamiltons and their descendants of Cherrytree Twp. were Physicians. The Meadville men took Civil Engineering along with the medical course and were expert surveyors. They also figured in County politics. If the medical annals of the country were ever written the Hamiltons would appear with rings on their fingers and bells on their toes.
