Notes for William Vail Kellen: Quote from Benjamin Foss as published in The Vane, The B.F.Sturtevant Co. sales department newsletter, on December 28, 1942 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Director of B.F.Sturtevant Company for more than 30 years and son-in-law of its founder, William Vail Kellen, in his 91st year, died at his home in Boston on Sunday, December 20, 1942. His wife, Ella Sturtevant Kellen, in her 89th year survives him, as do four children and numerous descendants in the third and fourth generations.
Born in the little town of Truro, on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in the year 1852, he was educated at Brown University, from which he graduated with the Classs of 1872. He took up the profession of law, but retired from active practice a good many years ago. He married in 1879, Ella, daughter of Benjamin F. Sturtevant: they have resided in Boston ever since.
To a remarkable degree, Mr.Kellen retained his mental and physical faculties to within a day or two of his death. He was steadfast in his attendance at meetings of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors and always displayed an unflagging interest in current problems. Life held for him a zest and enthusiasm which kept him young to the very last. His friends will testify, that, come what would, life was well worth living."
Children of William Vail Kellen and Ella Sturtevant are:
