Family research has been my hobby since 1992. I really enjoy it. It is an on-going projet which will never end. My father's paternal line of WINKLER took me back to 1700s and Wuertemberg in Germany. I organised a family reunion which coincided with the 140th anniversary on the arrival in Australia of the WINKLER family on the "Armin" in 1858. My father's maternal line is not so easy with a couple of brick walls. My Grandmother Mary Ann COLES was born in 1869 in Grafton N.S.W. to William COLES and Elizabeth GRAHAM. It is very hard to find any more conclusive information as to the ancestors of this couple. I have not been able to prove anything I have come up with so far, but I am still working on it. My Mothers paternal line (PERRY) (was researched by a cousin who released a book and held a reunion in 1988). A number of Perry siblings came to Australia over a period of time from 1845 to 1957. It is my mother's maternal line (SCHEIBEL) which is causing me some problems as I cannot find anything about them in Germany. I have found them coming into Australia in 1859 on the "Noach", and their Australian part but Germany is another of my stumbling blocks. But I am gradually finding more and more information on this family. Good news, there has been a break through with more information on the scheibel family, although it is in Australia only. I have found some distant cousins who are researching the same family, we have exchanged information and at last I feel that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I have found that Anton's brother Leonard and Marguarita'a sister Catharina also came to Australia as husband and wife in 1854 aboard the "Daniel Ross".
