We are descendents of John Porter who emigrated from England to New England subsequent to the granting of the charter for the colony of Massachusetts Bay in 1628. He was a descendant of William de la grande, a Norman knight whose son Ralph (or Roger) became "Grand Porteur" to Henry first, A.d. 1120 to 1140 from which came the name Porter and hence the coat of arms of gate and bells as Porter means keeper of the gate. The earlier family lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut,& Vermont. My immediate family now resides in and around the Houston, Texas area; however, many relatives still live in and around Fredonia, New York.
I have names, dates, pictures, marriage & death certificates, with information back to 1775.
I am also following my other paternal side which is Blodgett & my maternal sides which are Thompson & Fullerton.
I would enjoy sharing information with interested parties.
