Bill, a former staff sergeant (medic & POW) of the 101st Infantry Regiment, 26th Division, was recognized by the French government for the part he played in the liberation of France during WWII. He was presented with a "Thank You, America" certificate on 2 July 2001 in Houston, TX, by Pierre Lepetit, consul general of France.
