Notes for WILLIAM COTTAM:
The only reference found to date of William Cottam is from the obituary of his sister Nancy Wilson. His birthdate and location are unknown, although he was most likely born in Cincinnati. There is a possibililty he is the William Cottam listed 1850 U.S. Census, 8th Ward of Cincinnatti, age 19, bricklayer, in the household headed by Maria O'Meara.

"Death of an Old Resident
Mrs. Margaret Kellogg, widow of Charles Kellogg, died at Hobart last Saturday morning. Some seven weeks ago she received a severe fall, causing the injuries resulting in her death. She was eighty-six years of age. She had resided in Hobart three years with her daughter, Mrs. Augustus Wood. Mrs. Kellogg was twice married. Her first husband was Mr. Brown, of Cincinnati, by whom she leaves two children: Mr. James Brown, of Valparaiso, and Mrs. Jessie Wood, of Hobart. Her second husband was Mr. Charles Kellogg, with whom she came to Michigan City. She leaves two children by this marriage: Mrs. Sarah Brown and Henry Kellogg, of Hobart. Mr. and Mrs. Kellogg resided here many years and were among the early settlers, their home being for several years the house at the corner of Pine and Michigan streets, later at the country home now owned by E.A. Boyer. Mrs. Kellogg was a woman greatly beloved by all - a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a true christian, and many hearts in the city will be saddened by news of her death. Her life has been a beautiful example of the life of a good woman.

The funeral of Mrs. Kellogg will be held at the home of Augustus Wood in Hobart this afternoon and the remains will be brought to this city on Tuesday morning at 8:43 o'clock; then taken directly to Greenwood cemetery and buried beside her husband, Mr. Charles Kellogg, who died here many hears ago.

Samuel Bullock, a relative of the deceased, is in the city to-day, making funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Kellogg had a number of distant relatives in this city.

Friends who desire may join the funeral party at the depot and accompany the remains to the cemetery."
