Samuel Henry Carvell (son of Samuel Carvell and Jane Brown)421 was born 21 Mar 1859 in Walcote, Leicestershire421, and died Abt. Dec 1950 in Belgrave, Leicester. He married Rebecca Arnold on 06 Jan 1885 in St Mark's parish church, Leicester, England422, daughter of William Arnold and Sarah Faulkner.
Notes for Samuel Henry Carvell: In 1881, Samuel was a private in the 6th regiment and stationed at Tower Hill, London. There was a barracks at the Tower that was sometimes used for soldiers returning from action, maybe overseas. It looks as if there was a large proportion of the 6th regiment at the Tower at that time, including the Leuitenant Colonel, James Colthurst, Major John Cockburn, and several majors and generals. The quartermaster was George Beedles, and he was allowed to have his wife and daughter with him!
Our Samuel was a private, aged 22, and unmarried at this time.
Susan Page nee Carvell/Uncle Dick's notes have Samuel born at Field Head, Markfield (near Bradgate Hall?). Maybe this was where they were living when Joseph Arthur was born , as his birth certificate shows that he was born in Markfield.
Cannot find Samuel or Rebecca in the 1891 census.
