The Family information featured at this site is part of the exciting extention of family MEMORY MEDALLIONS that have been placed at the last resting place of featured family members. (attached to their tombstones) These MEMORY MEDALLIONS (see www.memorymedallion.com) provide a digital "life story" (picture and text) of featured family members turning cemeteries into libraries of family history. The Medallion is about the size of a large quarter and can be "read" by most laptop or handheld computers using an inexpensive Touch wand and free software from the above-referenced site. It survives the freezing cold and the hot heat of summer. It requires no battery to retain the information for decades and decades. Once the Medallion information is touched and loaded on to the PC the software has a "hyperlink" ability to connect to any web-based information that the Medallion author has created allowing the opportunity to fully and completely reference such things as the genealogical history of the deceased or even additional pictures, videos or sound bytes related to their life.
This site serves as one such "hyperlink extention" to some of the Medallions that have been put out in various cemeteries to Toothmans who have passed on.

A review of the family tree provided at this site will show how this line came from France under the surname Duchmann that was then "anglosized" to its present Toothman. (Special thanks to Rick Toothman for information related to the "across the water" connections.)

Family Photos

  • Judge Glenn R. Toothman Jr. (35 KB)
Glenn served as the President Judge of Greene County, Pennsylvania, from 1965 to 1985. He was a distinguished presence behind the bench. One out-of-town attorney related that if someone would call "central casting" in Hollywood to fill the role he would have to look as Glenn did behind the bench.
  • My Family as a child (54 KB)
left to right...Glenn R. Toothman Jr.(dad) Harry Stephen, Glenn R.(III)(me), Farley D., Ellan M. and Catherine (Throckmorton) Toothman (mom)
  • Glenn R. Toothman Jr. / Victory High School (74 KB)
Senior football picture at Victory High School, Clarksburg, W.VA. He was chosen as the first team allstate center. This was the picture his wife (my mother) tells that she always carried in her purse after they started dating and through the time he was overseas in the service.
  • The "votes" are in. (269 KB)
All I can say is that I am thankful that I did not know of my father's stunning accomplishments as a high school standout until becoming an adult. I would have been even more intimidated by the person that he really was. This article said that he was "second" in the ballot for "hardest working" and "best athlete". This information relates to Glenn R. Toothman Jr.
  • Wedding day (109 KB)
Handsome couple....My mother's comment to me about marrying my father was "I did my job right from the beginning...I got you the best father I could." Glenn R. Toothman Jr. and Katherine (Throckmorton) Toothman married April 3, 1942 in Winchester, Virginia.
  • No Michael Jordan but..... (67 KB)
My mother's comment about Dad's basketball career was that he always knew how to be "the star" in that on more than one ocassion he was responsible for making the final shot to win the game.
  • No wonder we won the war.... (62 KB)
As one eulogizing friend stated at his funeral...he was as handsome as a man was allowed to be without a body guard...
  • West Virginia All State Football Team 1937 (323 KB)
Victory High School is well represented.
  • Glenn Sr. and Elsie Family (65 KB)
This picture shows Glenn Sr. Glenn Jr. (standing to the right of his dad), Fred to the left of his dad, Elsie (mother) with Lee on her lap and son James on far right...sister Betty yet to be born... Glenn Sr. and Elsie are buried in the cemetery at Bridgeport, W.Va.

This picture shows Glenn Sr. with his father, Harry Sterling Toothman on his left and his son James on his right with his Grandmother Martha Jane (Hoult) Toothman, wife of Thorton Toothman sitting at the left.
