1881 Death of daughter Rebecca
Rebecca Copeland Topley died at age 6 of Meningitis.The family were at 26 Wilson Street and again John's occupation is Assurance Agent.
1891 CENSUS
At age 51, John was back working as a miner and is shown to be a border at 37 Cooperative Street, Normanton along with his son Job, and two other boarders.
1893 Marriage of Son, Job
At age 52, John was working as a miner when his son got married.
1901 CENSUS
At age 60 John was as living as a lodger at 191 Castleford Road, Normanton, Yorkshire. His profession in Coal Miner Hewer.
He is shown as a Boarder at this address, living with the Hoole Family. Thomas Hoole is the head of the household and is also a Coal Miner Hewer.Thomas lives with his wife Annie, and his 3 year old daughtercalled Laura.
There is another boarder at 191 Castleford Road, a Scotsman called James Ferguson who at 40 years old is working as a General Labourer.
It appears that his wife Rebecca Topley (nee Copeland) and family moved to Bradford before the 1891 Census, possibly leaving John behind.
1915 DEATH
John died of cancer of the stomach at 12 West Street, Altofts. He had been working as a Colliery Powder magazine Attendant (above ground).An inquest was held into hi s death.
