My name is Gustav Toppenberg, I am the oldest son of Hroar Toppenberg, who is the creator of this site. In his memory, I have taken over the maintenance of this site from my father who passed away peacefully on September 15th, 2003. In his memory and due to his great interest in the Toppenberg family, I now carry on the research my father and others in the family started. ------------------------------------------------- A Message From My Father: Since you looked up this page I guess that you or someone you know have the name Toppenberg. And that is exactly the purpose of this page, - to get in contact with Toppenberg relatives. I have for some time been working on building the Toppenberg Family Tree, which as of now consist of about 600 relatives. Growing every day. The name comes from the farm "Toppenbjerg" (Top of the mountain) which is situated on the west coast of Denmark, near Vestervig. The oldest in the family tree now is Mads Poulsen borne in 1690. On December 27, 1862 King Frederick of Denmark authorized the family to take their name after the farm. The first in the family to take the name was Mads Poulsens great grandson Ole Madsen Toppenberg borne November 15, 1805. All the Toppenbergs in the Family Tree have their name from Ole Madsen Toppenberg. These days most Toppenbergs live in the USA, but part of the family lives in Denmark, Holland, Aruba and Venezuela. I need your help to keep the tree up-to-date. Therefor please send me information regarding yourself, your children, your parents and other relatives as long back in time as you can. Essential information is dates and places for birth, marriage and death. I would also be happy for mail and e-mail addresses, occupation and other family related facts. I will be happy to give you the results of the work on the Toppenberg Family Tree. As of now the tree takes 1 page in height and 26 pages in width. Looking forward to hearing from you. |
