2. ISAAC E² TOWNSEND (WILLIAM M.¹) was born June 15, 1838 in Maine, and died 1888 in Duncan, Iowa. He married MELISSA H. BRADSHAW March 14, 1864 in Burke, Dane County, Wisconsin, daughter of HERAL BRADSHAW and JERUSHA. She was born December 29, 1842 in Canada, and died 1894.

      Isaac E. Townsend was born in Maine in 1838. Melissa A. Bradshaw was born on December 29, 1842 in Canada. Isaac and Melissa were married about 1864.
Their eight children were:
1. Charles Henry Townsend born September 9, 1865 in Wisconsin
2. Samuel E. Townsend born May 16, 1867 in Wisconsin
3. William H. Townsend born June 19, 1869 in Iowa
4. Ida M. Townsend born August 28, 1870 in Iowa
5. Leroy G. Townsend born January 9, 1875 in Iowa
6. Earnest B. Townsend born April 27, 1877 in Iowa
7. George L. Townsend born July 1, 1879 in Iowa
8. Archie Ray Townsend born September 8, 1884
      The first two children, Charles and Samuel were born in Wisconsin. An 1880 census report completed on the 11th of June 1880 shows the family living in Webster township in Webster county Iowa.
      At the time of this writing very little is known about family members other than Charles Henry Townsend. Archie Ray, Brother of Charles was 19 years younger than Charles. Archie Ray and his wife Martha lived in Cherokee, Iowa for many years. Martha was 91 years old in 1982, but it is not known when she died. My brother Fred had met Archie Ray, but did not know him well. When my father spoke of him he always referred to him as uncle "Ray." Aunt Mae Wetherell used to visit her Aunt Martha occasionally. When I was a small child, my dad used to talk about his uncles, but now there is no first hand information available. All of my dads generation have passed on. November 22, 1993 O.T.
