Charles Morris Burke (son of Philip Burke and Bridget Connors) was born May 19, 1861 in Webster Co., Iowa, and died October 15, 1934 in Greenfield, Township, Calhoun Co., Iowa. He married Ella Frances Fogarty on November 03, 1885 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, daughter of John Fogarty and Ellen Neal.
Notes for Charles Morris Burke: Charles is enumerated in the 1870 US Census of Webster Co., IA, as a 7-year-old, living with his parents and siblings. The 1880 Federal Census lists him as a 19-year-old, living with his parents and two younger brothers in Greenfield Township., Calhoun Co., IA. Shannon Zuzek indicates Charles married a woman named Ella Fogerty in about 1886. The 1892 Iowa Farmers Directory shows a C. M. Burke (as well as a Wm. Burke) receiving mail in the Village of Manson, Lincoln Township., Calhoun Co. He is most probably the Charles M. Burke shown in the 1910 US Census of Knierim, Greenfield Township., Calhoun Co., IA: Charles [49, IA, general store proprietor]; Ella F. [50, IA, married 24 years, mother of 5 of 5 surviving children]; Arthur [15, IA, salesman]; and Flossie [13, IA]. Their three other children are probably those listed together, all single, and farming in Greenfield Township: Charles [22, IA]; Eva [19, IA] and Elmer 17, IA]. He is shown in the records for Greenfield Cemetery near Knierim as Charles, born 19 May 1858 [sic], a married postmaster.
