The Mark Richard Trents of Leesburg, VAUpdated August 13, 2003 | Welcome Family! For about 10 years, and with the help of many people, I have been gathering information about our family history. This password-protected site is for you to critique, as well as enjoy.I will gladly add or delete any information you want.If you are not shown on here, contact me, and I will add you to your tree. There are definitely errors, so if you see something amiss, let me know. I hope you enjoy your stay here. - Mark R. Trent The finer points of this website: ·Relatives who are living do not have their personal information displayed (unless you would like to have it shown). ·I am limited to being able to only display 5 different trees or reports at one time. Therefore, I will be rotating these trees on and off the website, from time to time. ·If you are having trouble printing a tree, email me and I will gladly print one out for you and mail it to you the old fashioned way. ·When viewing the trees, zoom in 200-400%, then click on the “hand tool” button and use your mouse to click and drag your way around the tree (that way you don’t have to use the arrow keys to navigate). ·Also, when you see "WFT" next to a person's date, that stands for "World Family Tree(estimate)", which is a very rough estimate of those years made by the computer program. It's very inaccurate, so I wouldn’t pay any attention to those dates. ================================================================= Historical Trivia: *According to one website, the Ben Nevis (the ship Johann Knippa & family sailed on) was a ship from the White Star Line; the same company to later own the Titanic. *One other site has this twist on marriage: "Early Wends (of which the Knippa's were) practiced many distinctive customs, of which perhaps the most noticeable to outsiders was the German Lutheran custom of wearing black wedding dresses by Wendish brides to represent the grief and hardship of marriage. This custom died out by the 1890s. Religious conservatism militated against wearing bright colors, dancing, secular singing, or any other kind of frivolity." Bummer. ================================================================= Look here for future updates to the site. 7/14/03 - The Best descendent tree is now available below.I was able to merge an existing Best tree from the internet with the Best tree I had, and now have several dozen more names, albeit not close relatives. A Stephen Best is at the top of the Best tree (currently!).Little is known about him other than his wife's name and that he came from Ireland. How and when he came is still a mystery, and one I hope to solve in the coming months or years. FYI - The all-in-one trees are neat because they show everyone, and not just one family name line. But it's a lot harder to look at than the standard descendent trees. |
