About Our Family Research

Trent Family Genealogist researching all Trent lines started in Virginia since 1627 up to present. Study started in earnest in 1988, but is built on casual research started in early 1970's and further built on my mother's interest which started in 1952. Some old materials are not validated, only recorded as family stories and in pencil interviews on notebook paper.

Since 1988 most research has been documented as found, when, and where, and is tied mostly to the Henry(#1) & Elizabeth (Sherman) Trent's, but as with all research over 20 years who knows if I can lay my hands on every proven record in hundreds of manila folders and four file drawers!

Threrefore I'm preparing (after a year and half of typing into the computer in a lineage layout from Mr. Henry Trent 1-1) to publish my family tree information. The document will be 215 pages long with an Appendix of 32 other items (appox. 200 pages) of related families we have married into and who have married into us TRENT's. Document will have individual family Trent sections, a general index, lists of major names numbered in chronological order.

I hope to do a generational chart according to decendents number and am slowly working on tying the Virginia TRENT's and the New Jersey TRENT's together. As to whether all of this gets documented and listed as footnotes is a big question at this point as I don't quite know how to separate out 20 yrs. of riding the roads, dusty courthouse basements, muddy cemeteries; from all the years of research shared back and forth with contacts!! But if any one is interested in what I have and wishes to share back and forth, I'll do my best as I am under a tentative contract to publish and I don't know how much I can or should share out before a decision is made on a publishing date for the book.
