Need to make note here, that I can no longer access "my other Shelby page" to do updates, etc
Apparently at one time it was okay to have more than one home page [ or I wouldn't have 2 of them :-) ]. For the most part tho, the data is still useable.

Have run into another glitch with these pages. Whatever changed I cannot add updated reports, etc...as I can no longer get online thru the Family Tree Maker program... So please excuse any errors you come across...Since the following is MY web site I can update it: www.trolinger.com/judy/Judith4.htm

It has now been proven that Evan SHELBY's wife was Catherine MORGAN, not DAVIS.
The Rachel SHELBY who was Baptised 21 Oct 1721, was not Evan and Catherine's daughter, but the daughter of a Reicus SHELBY, probably Evan's brother-Leaving the question-Who was the father of the Rachel who married John McFARLAND and 2nd Phillip PINDALL/PINDELL??
Did Evan and Catherine have a daughter Rachel??]

The intent is to provide a means for researchers of the SHELBY surname, to exchange information - from any location and any time frame. This page and the links provided are only the tip of the iceburg!

Much more extensive help can be found in THE SHELBY EXCHANGE, a quarterly newsletter started in 1988, thanks to Mrs Carol Peterson.
I took it over in 1995. Although my research continues 24/7 I am no longer publishing- All back issues from 1995 to 2002, are available.

The name SHELBY appears for the first time in St Caron's Church records in Tregaron, Cardinganshire, Wales in 1709. Before this date it was SELBY. [Note-this region for a time after 1974 was changed to Dyfed, but has since been changed back to Ceredigion- Welsh for Cardiganshire.]

The SHELBYs make their first known recorded appearence in Pennsylvania in 1735, purchasing land in Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania. They had a daughter Mary Baptized in Christ Church, in Philadelphia in September of 1735. By 1739 they were in Maryland-From here they began to scatter in all directions, some leaving an easy trail to follow, while all too many others seem to have simply vanished into nowhere. It is a rare place that doesn't have a SHELBY in it-or from it :-)

Evan SHELBY and his wife Catherine MORGAN, are the ancestors of most of the known SHELBYs in the USA. But have also discovered branches in Ireland that settled in various parts of Ohio in the early 1800s.

The SHELBYs were a prolific family, with many of them playing a major role [good and bad] in the early history of our country.

Despite the fact that I have what is probably one of the largest private collections on SHELBYs to be had, it AMAZES me at how much is still being discovered!

The SHELBYs have been an addiction of mine for nearly 35 years, and I will help anyone if I can.

"HELPING HANDS" equals "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED"
