Obituary of Louise E. (Copeland) Starks born Nov 30, 1860 in Massac County, Illinois. She died June 30, 1929.  She was the daughter of Joshua and Caroline Copeland.

 

 

Obituary Mrs. L.E. Starks

            Louise Elizabeth Copeland, daughter of Joshua and Caroline Copeland, was born in Massac county, Illinois, Nov. 30, 1860, and departed this life June 30, 1929 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.H. Trumbo, Charleston, Illinois, at the age of 67 years and 7 months.

            She was united in marriage to Thomas Starkes Dec. 23, 1875, who preceded her in death Nov. 5, 1917.  To this union eleven children were born, four of whom preceded them in death.  Those now living are: W.H. Starks of Karnak, Ill., H.G. Starks, Alma Little, and Susie Barnett, all of Grand Chain, Ill.,  R.S. Starks of Villa grove, Ill., Mrs. C.E. Jacobs and Mrs. W.H. Trumbo of Charleston, Ill.  There are also twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five sisters and one brother, namely C.M. Copeland of Joppa, Ill., Ella Kennedy of Aurora, Ill, Maggie Clark of Selun?, Calif., Mattie Cockerel of Metropolis, Ill., Allie Barnett of Karnak, Ill., and Sallie Hawkins of Cairo, Ill., besides a host of other relatives and friends.

            She accepted the Christian faith early in life.  Her departure is deeply regretted by many relatives and friends.  The funeral was held at Bethel Christian Church, Hillerman, Ill., at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon.  In charge of Aikens and Flemming and conducted by Rev. Wiley Mathis.  Body was laid to rest in Copeland cemetery.
