Susie Henry lived in Texas for only fifteen years. She died in childbirth with a baby girl, who also died the next day, in January 1860. She is listed on the 1860 Kaufman County Mortality Schedule, as is the unnamed child. Her estate is listed in Kaufman Probate Records, Vol. 1, p. 547.
Susie and Andy had three children who died early in their childhood - the little girl who died when Susie did, Polly Ann and John. Another son, Thomas Jefferson Henry died at age 24. all these children are buried at College Mound Cemetery, Kaufman County, Texas.
Sarah Jane Henry married Hatton K. Fleetwood. They had one daughter, but Sarah died during the smallpox epidemic in 1865. Her daughter, Elodie, died ten years later and is buried beside Sarah. The Henry's last surviving daughter, Mary Melvina, married Frank Alexander. They moved from the Kaufman County area before the 1880 census and it is not known where they went to live.

Andrew H. Henry and Susan Jane "Susie" Beck were married in Washington Co., IN and moved to Johnson County, MO sometime prior to the birth of their daughter, Sarah Jane, who was born there in 1842. It was Susie and Andy who were the reasons why John Beck and his followers went to Missouri before coming to Texas. Andy Henry wanted in on the Mercer's Colony land deal.
Andy Henry fared better than his wife in Kaufman County. The first record bearing his name in Texas, other than his Mercer's Colony Certificate, was the 1846 Henderson County Tax Rolls, but that was just a beginning for Andy, as his name appears hundreds of times in the Kaufman County records throughout the remainder of his lifetime - on tax rolls, land deeds, probate records, Commissioner's Court minutes, jury lists, as a witness, as a guardian ad litem, on tax rolls, etc.
After his father-in-law, John Jacob Beck died, Andy Henry bought 100 acres of the land the Becks called the College Mound Tract. It was just south of his head right land which was located between College Mound and Elmo. Not long after that, when John Beck's daughter, Melvina and her husband, James Clarida, died, he took guardianship to two of their sons - Felix, who was 15 years old at the time, and Thomas, who was five. Andy was the Administrator of James & Melvina's estate, according to Kaufman County Probate Minutes, Vol. 1, pp. 238-239, Probate Citation #50A. It was an arduous task that took more than ten years to settle.
In 1861, Andy Henry remarried to a widow, Mary McCreary Hayes, who had three daughters still at home - Elizabeth, who was age 7, Rachael, age 5, and Martha, age 3. They all moved into his house. Living there at the time were the two Clarida boys and his daughter, Harriett Ann, and her husband, George Rushing (Kaufman Co., Census 1870).
During the Civil War Andrew was a member of the Kaufman County Home Guard as a Precinct Commander. His primary duty was to keep watch for civil unrest, as uprising from slaves was a concern, and to be on guard with other men to protect the county if Federal troops came into the area.
William Harrison Henry, eldest child of Susie & Andy, married Julia Elizabeth Brown in 1860 and they lived on the Henry farm until Will enlisted in the Confederacy on 19 March 1862. He was with the 20th Texas Cavalry, Co. E, under the command of Col. T. C. Bass as a 2nd Sargeant. He was wounded in battle and died from complications of those wounds in 1867. After his death his best friend, James N. Rushing, brother-in-law to his sister Harriett, was appointed administrator of William's estate, and in 1868, Rushing married Julia Brown Henry.
Andrew Henry and Mary, his second wife, had three daughters of their own - Alice, who married William Richard Love, Francis and Emma. Right after the war, in 1865, Andy Henry opened a Mercantile with Phillip Cole, the first store to open in the College Mound area.
Throughout his life in Kaufman County, Andy remained active in political matters, never actually running for public office, but making his opinions known and heard. He was a staunch Methodist and was active in the College Mound Church, serving as an Elder and a Trustee to the cemetery. His stalwart religious attitude, along with his impeccable character as an honest man, brought praise from his eulogizers and in his printed obituaries.
His Last Will & Testament is recorded in Kaufman County Probate Citation #1003.

I connect to MARY ANN HENRY, sister to Andrew H. Henry (Andrew born 1815).

Do you know any descendants of Andrew's side that are searching his line? I
am trying to keep up with all of the descendants named HENRY.

Polly married her husband in Washington Co., Indiana. His full name was William Wilson Fogleman, and was called "Wilson". He was very well educated - spoke English and German fluently and could read and write both languages, while Polly Beck, like most of her sisters, was illiterate - unable to read or even sign her own name (from family vertical file - Terrell library.)
Polly and Wilson had twelve children - four were born in Washington County, Indiana, one was born in Missouri and seven were born in Texas - three in Anderson County and four in Kaufman County. The last child born to the couple was a son named Wilson Jeffrey "Jeff", and very little is known about him and he apparently died as a baby or small child, probably near the time Wilson died. He shares a common tombstone with his father and there are no dates on it referring to him.

Kaufman County Texas Library:

Wilson Fogleman was born 1813 in Cabarrus Co., NC; moved to Beck's Mill, Washington County, Indiana in 1830. He moved to College Mound, Texas in 1844 before Texas was a state. He married Mary Ann Beck, born 1816, the daughter of Capt. John J. and Anna Rogers Beck.

Wilson and Mary Ann Beck Fogleman traveled to Texas in ox-drawn wagons. Nine families were on the Wagon Train with them. Most were Mary Ann's family. After three months on the trail, going through Missouri, they arrived in Texas. In 1850 they were in the Anderson County, Texas census with 6 of their children. Sereptha, Louisa, John, Jefferson, and Harriett were all born in Texas.

Wilson Fogleman married Mary Ann Beck in Washington Co., Indiana. They moved to Texas and he signed his Mercer's Colony Certificate on January 22, 1845 and settled on his land in Anderson County. He and his family are listed on the 1850 Anderson County Census. They did not move to Kaufman County until around 1854 when he purchased 160 acres of land in what is now the Black Jack community of Kaufman County, about three miles south of John Jacob Beck's College Mound Tract (Land Deeds Kaufman Co.)
Wilson Fogleman was well educated - spoke English and German fluently and could read and write both languages. He dealt in land and had several small farms he rented out in the county. He was a Precinct Captain during the Civil War years and led a group of men appointed by the County Commissioners at that time to investigate indigent families suffering from the hardships of war. Ironically, his own daughter, Ellen Fogleman, was one of those persons (County Commissioners Court Minutes, Vol A through Vol J.)
According to all research it appears both Wilson and Polly died intestate, and there is no record of either of their estates being probated in the Kaufman County archives. Apparently arrangements had been made with their children, prior to their deaths, concerning the distribution of their property amongst their heirs.

1850 Census Kaufman Co., TX enumerated July 22, 1851:

Fogleman, William            38      M      Farmer      IN
Mary M.                  35      F            IN
Elizabeth                  14      F            IN
Harrison                  12      M            IN
Mason                  10      M            IN
Ellen                  08      F            In
Sareptha                  06      F            TX (b. 3 Jan 1845)**
Louisa                  02      F            TX
** This once again shows that the family was here by 1845 (math: year 1851 minus age 6 = year 1845). Also note that the gap in the ages between most of the children is 2 years, but there is a 4 year gap between Sareptha & Louisa - this is where the baby girl Jerusia would have figured into the family, except that she died soon after her birth.

The Fogleman daughter, Soeptha, who was called "Rippy" was the first child of the Beck clan to be born in Texas - January 3, 1845 - mere days before the majority of the Beck family signed their Mercer's certificates in Nacogdoches. If Rippy's older sister, Jerusia, had survived the trip to Texas she would have had the distinction of being the youngest person on the Beck expedition to arrive in Texas, but as it turned out, she was the first to be buried in Texas (Genealogy Charts of Dorothy Ford Cline, a Fogleman descendant.)
