Paternal - My branch of the Tubbs family was living in eastern New York when in the mid to latter 1800's, four brothers [among them was my G-G-grandfather, Sidney] moved to the Maquoketa, Jackson co., Iowa area. They were the sons of Jeremiah & Sibble [Odell] Tubbs. Many extended family members, in-laws & friends seem to have moved there too. Via my grandfather Winfield S. H. Tubbs [1880-1973], the following surnames are also being searched: Abbott - Bates - Bayford - Brewer - Buckland - Carpenter - Chandler - Chapin - Colton - Farnum - Gardiner - Goffe - Grant - Griffin - Griswold - Hawkins - Heald - Hilton - Keep - Leonard - McKelsey - O'dell - Ripley - Saunders - Wolcott. These appear to be almost exclusively from the northeast part of the USA. My grandma Tubbs [Rebecca Jerletta Chapman, 1894-1952] adds Basford - Chapman - Clark - Eli - Hayworth to the search list. These are from a more southerly migration track. They arrived in Wayne co., Iowa by 1860.
Maternal - My branch of the Taylor family [Reese, my G-G-grandfather from Delaware] also arrived in eastern Iowa in the mid 1800's. [He seems to have spent time in Dubuque, Jackson & Jones counties.] My grandfather Theodore Taylor [1894-1933] is also descended from Abraham Heister [to Iowa in the mid 1800's from Pennsylvania]. My grandma Taylor [Caroline Marie Straub, 1896-1978] is of German ancestry [Schrader - Schwartz - Straub]. They immigrated in the mid to late 1800's, winding up in Jackson county, Iowa.
