Page 30. Nuncupative Will. Amelia County. Dec 31, 1747. This day, Peleg Fa rguson came before me, a Justice of the Peace for this county, and made oa th that on Saturday, Nov 28, 1747, he was at the late dwelling house of Ab raham Mechaux, and in company with the said Abraham Michaux, then and the re lying very sick, and like to die, and the said Abraham Michaux wanted h im to write a line or two for him, meaning his will, and that his will w as that William Tucker should have everything that he was possessed of, wi th only 1 black heifer, which he gave to his sister, Susanna Quinn. B ut if William Tucker died without lawful heirs, that then John Mecha ux Jr and Abraham Mechaux, his brother, sons of John Mechaux, should co me in for his estate. And before the said Peleg Ferguson finished the wri ting, the said Michaux wanted him to fetch his pocket book, that he mig ht see his old will, and when he brought it, it desired that he would re ad it, and accordingly, he did, and the said Abraham Mechaux said that t he things that John Mechaux had, he himself was not possessed with, meani ng his moulds, and desired the said Farguson to tear his name off from t he old will, and directly died before the said Farguson could finish the w riting, and that the above writing is the true last will and desire of Abr aham Mechaux, deceased. Verified - Charles Irby. Witness - Peleg Farguson.
At L Court of Aug 2, 1748, the aforesaid will of the deceased was present ed in Court to be proved. Farguson testified that the within will is a goo d, nuncupative will, whereupon Lyddall Bacon, Gent, with John Bacon and Le wis Delony, his sureties, entered into bond for the execution thereof.
