Tucker Family History - NC, GA & LA 1652-Present

Updated March 1, 2005

I am researching the family of Churchwell Branch Tucker (1805-1890) and youngest son James K. Polk Tucker (1848-1890)and kinship, also Capt. Rober Tucker and kinship.

Churchwell B. Tucker was born April 30, 1805 in Surry County, NC , son of Branch and Lucy (Blakey) Tucker. C.B. as he was somtimes called married Rosamond Maude McKiney on July 11, 1823. C.B. and family left NC and settle in Murray County,GA in the late 1830's.His family was one of the early pioneer settlers of the county. Some say the Tuckers were in Murray County before the Indians were removed. In some early records the Eighth District is called "Tucker's District. C. B. and Lucy had a large family, six girls and four boys.

My ancestry is: Robert Tucker (abt.1652-1704), Capt. Robert Tucker (abt. 1677-1750), James Tucker, Sr. (1698-1773), James Tucker, Jr. (abt. 1719-1797), Branch Tucker (abt. 1755-1832) Churchwell B. Tucker (1805-1882) James K. Polk Tucker (1847-1890), Dennis "Dan" Tucker (1882-1967, James W. Tucker, Sr (1922-2004) and Richard B. Tucker (1947).
