Richard Tucker born abt 1726 died 1771
I have spent many hours doing research on our Tucker family tree and it has given me much pleasure in finding all that I have written so far. I started doing it, because my sister Beryl who had been researching her husband’s family tree asked me to do our Tucker family tree. Because we did not know anything about our Tucker line, I started by asking my eldest brother Brian if he knew anything, Beryl and Brian believed our father came from the Bristol area but were not sure, Brian suggested to phone our cousin Eddy as he was one of the oldest in the family and he may know, so I phoned him and he said that he had the Family Bible which I could have. The Family Bible gave me the start I needed. It had a verse on the inside cover, William Tucker, William Tucker is my name, England is my Nation, Clutton is my resting place and Christ is my salvation May 30th 1837. It also had family names with birth dates and other dates. Clutton I found to be a small mining village in North Somerset; Both Brian and I have visited Clutton since. I then went on the internet and found after sometime of searching the web that other people were looking for some of the same names. I traced my Great great grandfather’s sister Sarah Tucker who married a Maurice Gover to Salt Lake City; they had become Mormons and emigrated there in 1853 from Pontnewnyndd, Monmouthshire. In Sarah’s mothers notes I am including two letters dated 1862 and 1870 which Sarah's mother Martha sent to her and was found in a trunk by Sarah's family when she had past away. |
