Welcome to this site which was established January 15, 2005 in New Jersey which is the location of the first settlement in North America by Toers family ancestors. They arrived on the first ships to sail to "New Netherlands" from Amsterdam, Holland in the early 17th century. There have been many changes in the spelling of the surname among the various branches of the family during the many generations that have evolved here. Among the variations that are contained here-in are:

TOERS,TUERS,TOURS,TURSE,TOORS,TOURSE,TOIRS

The family name is linked to the first birth in this country of a child of European parentage. In 1624 Judith Jorise Rapalje was born in "New Netherlands" (New York City). She married Pieter Pietersen Van Nest and had a daughter Jacomyntje Van Nest. Jacomyntje Van Nest married Claes Arentsen Toers 22 Jun 1684 in "Breuckelen".
