  Ches Cook and his brother, Frank, built this swimming pool in the 1940's on Ches' farm on Union Baptist Church Road, Cycle, NC. It was the first swimming pool many area residents had seen.

  Ches Cook and wife, Myrtle Ann Royal Cook, appear in this undated picture. They were married in 1912 and lived on Union Baptist Church Rd., Cycle, not far from the Wilkes County line. Myrtle was the daughter of William Royal and wife, Tabitha Whitehead.
