THE TUTTLE & STRIEGEL LINEAGE
As I've grown into an older ‘baby boomer’ I’ve decided our fast paced way of life hasn’t allowed much time to learn about our family roots.Too much TV has probably been a contributor. My interest began with my receiving my grandmother Tuttle’s set of dishes from my Aunt Henrietta Tuttle Dailey. She had the set for many years but told me it was time to pass down the set to the youngest Tuttle male. We placed the dishes in a new china cabinet. Seeing the dishes on display got me to wondering about the people who had eaten from them. This made me realized how little I really knew about both sets of my grandparents.I knew little or nothing about my great grandparents. As I began to learn more about genealogy I soon realized how interesting it could be. As I started reseaching it was like going back in time and connecting with members of my family, as though I could remember parts of each one. Finding them and recording their story or at least being able to prove where they fit into our family was very rewarding and fullfilling. My genealogy is something I really enjoy and cherish. The more I learn about my family history the more pride I developed. My hope is that other family members will see this site and perhaps become engaged with the study of the family or want to look into their branch of our grand tree. Knowing your family’s past and sometimes getting to walk where they might have walked, simply enriches your life and gives you a deeper sense of worth and beloning. It’s a great hobby. I decided to research my father’s parent’s background initially. This includes the “Striegel” name as well as the “Tuttle” name.
