My parents ancestors both have roots in the county of Telemark, Norway. My fathers relatives were from the Nissedal Parish and lived on the Tveit, Tveitane, Fjalestad and Fjone farms. In the Fyresdal Parish they lived on the Nape farm before moving to the Fjalestad farm. My mothers relatives also lived in the Nissedal parish before migrating to the USA. They lived on the Kilen and Grovum farms. In Tordal in Drangedal Parish they lived on the Steinsland farm. They have both been traced back to 1600's. Most of the migrating took place between 1850 and 1890. |
