Find Family
Our investigations have found that we are part of a large Cariboo family of Twans. The original spelling of the name was changed around the 1880 from Touin. Charles Touin was with the Hudson Bay at Fort Alexandria. Charles took a native wife and had one son called John Sanford Twan, Also, we believe at least one other child called Joseph. We are part of the decendents of John Twan. The name Twan or Touin has a native meaning which is, "By The Water." That was where the family was raised , on the banks of the Fraser River, on the farm at Fort Alexandria. There are four Twans that we know of living in Nanaimo BC. We are trying to find any other Twans and Touins that are around the world to help fill in the blank spaces in our family tree. If there are any Twans or Touins that would like to get in touch with us we can be contacted at the email address or the mailing address below.
