John Udell, grandson of Mathew, and his grandson. John was born in 1816, son of John Udell and Margaret Brown. He would have been born in Pickering or Markham, Ontario. His family were involved in the rebellion of 1837/38, including the incident at Montgomery's Tavern, with two brothers Joseph and Mathew spending time in jail. Most of the family moved to Michigan. John is buried in the Melvin Cemetery, Michigan.
