| The name "Umpenhour" is derived from "Umbenhauer", which originated in Germany (Bavaria) as "unbehauen". The American roots are in Pine Grove, Pennsylvannia. Cornelius Umbenhauer was the father of Charles Henry Umpenhour (1847) who fathered a 2nd Charles Henry (187?). The 2nd Charles Henry fathered Earl Wesley Umpenhour and a 3rd Charles Henry. All decend from Stephaus Umbenhauer who was the first generation in this country, and from there to Unbehauen in Germany. The linkage between Charles Henry Umbenhauer(1) and "Umpenhour" has been established. I'm also interested in the names Abrams; Reid and Shivers from North Carolina, Pitt County area. These are names of my Maternal ancestors. |
