| I am researching the following surnames:Wertz: First found in Bedford, PA about 1745. Paul was an officer in the American Revolution. They settled in IA about 1900.Underhill: Samuel shows up in PA about 1800, then in Cambridge OH about 1850. The family then surfaces in IA about 1900.Tyler: Information is scarce. I find them in NY, then in Mo about 1890.VanPool: Ditto Tyler info.Holliday: Originated in Scotland then settled in PA about 1725. William was a paymaster in the Revolutionary War. Hollidaysburg, PA. was named after this family.Kaye: Originated in England. First date about 1815. Settled in PA about 1725.Shoemaker: Found in PA about 1750, then in IA about 1811.Allen: Found in PA about 1750.Hyland: Originated in Ireland. First seen there about 1790, then in Ontario, Canada about 1834, then IL about 1900.Greathouse: First found in KY about 1820, then in KS about 1886. |
