Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 7, at 10 a. m. for
Mary Carmack, 91. She passed away
Tuesday, May 3, at a local nursing home following an illness of several months.
Services were held in the Smith - Kreuger Mortuary chapel in
Independence with Rev. Roy Campbell officiating. Interment followed in the Hill Top cemetery, south of Independence.
Mary Sansavere was born at Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on March
10, 1864. When she was three her family
moved to Montana where she grew to young womanhood. In 1890 she was married to Sam Carmack. They moved to the Monmouth area in 1907. Seven children were born to the union, of
whom five and her husband preceded her in death.
Mrs. Carmack found greatest joy in her flowers and the Bible
reading. She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Ethel Chapin of Monmouth and Mrs. Verl Frederickson of Heppner,
and by three sisters, and two brothers, all in Montana; and by six
grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Alex Sansaver
Mrs. Alex Sansaver was raised in North Battleford, Sask, and
made many trips by wagon to the Fort Peck Reservation during her early
years. She was an excellent seamstress
and enjoyed making beautiful quilts. In
addition to much embroidery work, she also was an ardent fisherman and loved
the sport very much. She died Wednesday
at the age of 94 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
She was born Oct. 22, 1883 at Poplar, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James H. Snell. Raised in Canada, she
moved to Fort Shaw in 1898 where she attended school.
She married Alex Sansaver on Oct. 14, 1901 at Harlem. They lived in Kalispell until 1920 when they
moved to the Wolf Point community. Mr.
Sansaver died in 1962.
She was an active member of the Poverty Flats Home Demonstration
Club for many years and was also very active in the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church.
She is survived by a son, Roy, of Wolf Point; a daughter, Mrs.
Victoria Madison, also of Wolf Point; three brothers, Dick Snell and Albert
Snell, both of Harlem and Jim Snell, Hayes; 13 grandchildren, 45
great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, the Rev.
Fr. James Reynolds officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

Tuesday at 10
Flora Anderson, 83, passed away in Kalispell Friday,
Mrs. Anderson was born at Sweet Grass and had made her home
there and in the Billings area until coming to Kalispell in 1935, and had made
her home here since. At the time of her
death she resided at 26 Fifth Avenue West,
On July 7, 1897, she was married to William Anderson, and was
preceded in death by her husband on Dec 31, 1945.
Mrs. Anderson is now survived by three daughters, Mrs. Elmer
Bloom and Mrs. Harold Erickson, both of Kalispell, and Mrs. Andy Harrington of
Fallon: two sons, Robert Anderson of Kalispell, and Russell Anderson of Tacoma,
Wash., one sister Mrs. Robert Winkler of Lewistown; 16 grandchildren and a
number of great- grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson have been set for Tuesday at
10 a.m. in the Waggener & Campbell chapel with the Rev. Clarence Loewen,
pastor of the Central Bible Church, officiating. Following the services, the body will be forwarded to Billings
for interment in the family section of the Mountain View Cernetery.

Funeral Rites Held For Retired Farmer
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Settergren
funeral chapel for William Anderson, 77, retired farmer.
Mr. Anderson died at a local hospital Saturday. His home was at 623 North Sixteenth street.
Services were conducted by the Rev. A. C., Caton, pastor of the
First Methodist church. Mrs. Gustave
Simmons, organist, played "God Will Take Care of You" and "Safe
in the Arms of Jesus". Pallbearers
were Abraham Edwards, Ray Ennis, Edgar Gruel, Aloe VVarila, John Wilson and
Pete Wilson. Burial was in Mountview
cemetery.
Surviving are tbe widow, four daughters, two sons, three
brothers and two sisters, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Winkler
John Winkler b. Indiana 7
Jun 1856. He lived in Ricie Station, Kentucky until
1886 when he moved to
Bozeman, MT. Kate White was born in KY
3 May 1859.
She and John were married
in KY 4 May 1880 and continued living there until
they moved to Bozeman. After farming in the Bozeman area for a few
years,
he took advantage of the
opening of the reservation for homesteading, moving
to Joliet where he filed on
a homestead south of town, which is now owned by
Hallie Ward. His sons Bob and Horace also homesteaded in
the Joliet area.
John Winkler left his mark
on the Joliet community, raising a good family and
always ready to contribute
more than his share toward community improvement.
His name shows repeatedly
with many other oldtimes on the school board list,
an organization in shich he
was always working toward improvement.
John lived
in Joliet until his death
on 17 Aug 1939. Kate moved to Hansen, ID and died there
26 Oct 1943.

Services
For Robert Winkler
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Christian
Church in Joliet for Robert Winkler, 76,
who died July 26, at his home near Boyd.
Mr. Winkler had been ill for the past seven months.
He was born July 17, 1882 in Irvin, Ky and came to Bozeman in
1888 with his parents. He homesteaded
in Carbon county in 1895 and in 1910 moved to the Joliet area. He had previously operated a livery stable
in Dixon.
Mr. Winkler moved to the Boyd area in 1917 and had lived in his
present home since 1939.
He was married to Eva Sansaver in Billings on March 23, 1910.
Mr. Winkler is survived by his wife, of the home; one daughter,
Mrs. Allen Cooper, Great Falls; three sons, Glenn Winkler, Lewistown, Harry
Winkler, Alemida, Calif, and Howard Winkler, Danvers; two sisters, Mrs. Charles
Eaton, Laurel, and Mrs. Harry Lacourse, Hansen, Ia; one brother, Horace
Winkler, Joliet; nine grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
The reverand Frank Needles officiated at the services. Burial was in Joliet Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Archie Kenyon, Al Shandy, Roy Hunt, M. A.
Woods, Al Rice, and Wayne Roberts.

Roy L. Sansaver
Roy L. Sansaver, 82, died Sunday at Trinity Hospital in Wolf
Point.
He was born Dec. 26, 1905 in Polson a son of Alexander and Mary
C. Sansaver. He spent his early years
in Kalispell and later attended school in Chemawa and in Wolf Point. He married Mary Agnes Azure May 16, 1931 in
Glasgow.
He worked for the Fort Peck Tribes as a heavy equipment operator
until 1942, then went to Bremerton, Wash. where he worked as a welder for a
year and a half. After he returned to
Wolf Point, he was a farmer and rancher until his death Mr. Sansaver had served
on the Fort Peck Tribal Executive Board.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating,
camping, playing cards and he kept up with Wolf Point High School sports until
the day of his death. He especially
enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Sansaver was a firm believer in continuing to grow. In 1980 he received his high school diploma
after attending adult education classes.
Later, he took correspondence courses for small engine repair.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Jim of Golden Valley,
Minn., Paul of Marysville, Wash and Butch of Wolf Point; two daughters, Mary
Ann Verwolf and Donna Wimmer, both of Wolf Point, a sister, Victoria Madison of
Wolf Point; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rosary was recited at 6:30 pm, Wednesday in Clayton Memorial
Chapel. Mass will be celebrated
10 a.m., Thursday (today)
at Immaculate Conception Church, the Rev. Fr Gunville officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Proetel
Taken by Death
Mrs. Mary Florence Proetel died in Kalispell early Sunday
morning after a lingering illness. Mrs.
Proetel was 51 years of age and had lived in Kalispell since 1937 with the
exception of two years.
She is survived by three sons, Edward William in Panama Canal
Zone with the U. S. Army, Donald Vern
of Glendive, and Larry Edward of Kalispell; also two daughters, Mrs. Mildred
Sommers of Belle Fourche, S. Dak., and Mrs. Lou Ann Zimmerman of Kalispell and
seven grandchildren, also her mother, Mrs. Flora Anderson of Billings, two
brothers Robert A. and Russell of Billings and three sisters, Mrs. Elmer Bloom
of Kalispell, Mrs. A. C. Heringtom of Glendive and Mrs. Harold Erickson of
Kalispell.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced Iater
by Waggener and Campbell Funeral Home.

Max R. Proetel passed away this morning after a long
illness. Mr. Proetel was a resident of
Columbia Falls for several years.
The body is at Kalispell Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Max R. Proetel, aged 51 years who was taken to the hospital in
Kalispell Saturday evening, passed away Tuesday after a lingering illness.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow and three children.
Private funeral survices were held this (Thursday) afternoon at
1 o'clock and the body shipped to Spokane for cremation.
