He married MARY MARTIN Bet. 1745 - 1751 in Caroline Co., Virginia, daughter of THOMAS MARTIN and UNKNOWN UNKNOWN. She was born 1720 in Fincastle Co., or Caroline Co., Virginia, and died 1812 in AL.

Notes for WILLIAM 1 PRUITT:
Married 1745-1748 in Rowan Co., NC Died at age 103. Was a Pvt. in the revolutionary War. His outfit was engaged in an operation that was trying to stop an invasion by Hessian mercenary troops hired by England from Germany. He was in the Battle of King`s Mountain near Rock Hill, SC. He lived in Rowan NC 1761; Botecourt VA in 1770; Greene TN 1783; Madison Ala 1807. Will was written in 1812, probated MAdison Co. AL Book D pg 77 in Oct 1817. Known as Martin 1

William and Mary Martin Pruitt had 10 children (4 girls, 6 boys): Levinah (Wm/John Jones), Rebecca (John Sinclair), Martin (Mary Woods), Jacob (Nancy Agnes Richey), Abraham (Margaret Ann White), Isaac (Margaret Ann White Pruitt after Abraham died), Sarah Mary (Benjamin Grayson), William 2 (Ellender), Jane (Mr. Stephens) and Fuller (Ms. Jones). According to Solomon, youngest son of Martin, his grandfather, father and all his uncles in the Pruitt family fought in the Revoluntionary War. Levinah, Rebecca, and Martin eventually ended in what is now the East Alton-Wood River IL area. Jacob went to AL. William 2 went to KY. Believe that Abraham and Isaac's family stayed in TN. Sarah Mary may have stayed in TN or went to KY. Have no idea as to where Jane and Fuller remained or stayed. The Pruitt's were in VA and possibly NC, but went into Greene Co TN in 1790's. From there they spread out. Martin's part of the family landed in IL about 1806 and his wife Mary died there in 1807.

You probably already know this, but A lot of info can be found on Martin and Fuller Pruitt who were both spies in the Rev War and in the Battle of Kings Mt in NC. The information can be found in Madison Co. IL where they were in 1806. There is even a plaque at the courthouse in Edwardsville, IL concerning Martin Pruitt. They were around Moro, Wood River, Bethalto, and Fort Russell townships. There is a Pruett family cemetery in Madison Co. IL somewhere in Section 28 of the Co. and on the "old Pruett Homestead". My line is through the Pruetts who settled in Madison Co. MO near Fredericktown.
