Joseph Marion and Martha (Haley) Underwood did not emigrate to Texas at the same time as brother Jacob Jennings Underwood. They followed a few years later. Joe and Martha left 2 of their sons, Baxter Pruitt and Christopher Columbus Underwood to gather the crops and make their way to Texas after harvest. Christopher died on the trail and was buried along the way. No records as to where the burial took place. (per Johnnie Underwood Spencer).
