Norman Prewitt had this photo taken in advance of a medical appointment to remove the cyst above his left eye. He was concerned that in the event the cyst was something that could be fatal, he wanted to have a picture made for posterity. The cyst turned out to be nothing more than a sebacious (fatty) cyst which was removed without complication. These cysts are very common in the Underwood family even today.
