The Underdue name can be traced as far back as 1790 census. The Underdues have always been listed as free blacks. I have been able to tie my paticular family to John (born 1825) and Eliza Underdue (born 1829). Apparently many Underdue married another family called Bakers. For example three daughters of John and Eliza Underdue married three brothers were Bakers. Later on during the next generation many females Underdue's continue to marry Baker men. |
