* Minnesota, home of the Tates and Burns*

Updated February 5, 2006

I am researching the families who joined to form the Tates and Burns of Minnesota.

The strong Irish lines comes from William Malloy and James Burns who immigrated from Ireland in the 1880's and 1830's with the Sweetman Colonization. The marriage of Tate and Burns in 1940's brought the other Irish line from McGlades, Halls, and Hanna together.

The Tate line is traced back to George W Tate from Rockingham Cty, VA in 1860. GW Tate married into the Dickinson, Pike, Day family from New York. The family was in MN 1858, before Minnesota was a state.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or leads.

Thank You
