| William Hines with wife Mary (nee Hides) and family, Samuel, James, Ephraim , Eliza and William Jr. travelled from United Kingdom to West Australia aboard vessel "Victory" and arrived at Fremantle on March 24, 1854.Ephraim stayed in West Australia and married Caroline Sarah Mills of York, West Australia on January 28, 1872.Caroline's family (Ephraim,father;Elizabeth, mother; and sister Matilda) had arrived in Western Australia aboard vessel "Travancore" in 1852. The Mills family settled in York, where Caroline was born and Ephraim Mills joined the police force. We have a list of most of Ephraim Hines descendants, but unfortunately Samuel, James, Eliza (m. Henry Woods) and William Jr. (m. Susan Pollard) have disappeared. Ephraim Hines moved from York and settled in the Fremantle area. The Western Australian Historical Society lists him as Engineer and Skipper of paddle steamer "City of Perth" in 1872. I would appreciate any information on siblings, and will be happy to share any information I have on Ephraim's family, and I would like any information you may have on William's ancestors. |
