I know I have cousins I have never met, though we grew up less than 25 miles apart. I have met quite a few people who know them, so know some of their names. I grew up in Webster, NY and Dad's cousins live(d) in Ontario, NY, the next town east of Webster.
My branch of the family, the descendents of Jacob and Bertha Updaw, met every year, on the first Sunday in August, from the 1930s until 2002, for the "family picnic" At last count (in 1990) there were over 160 descendents. I am still inputting names into this program, and will update it on an on-going basis. Our most recent family picnic was held on August 3, 2008 at Webster Park. While some of the family came, I am hoping to have a better turn out next year (First Sunday in August, 2009 at Webster Park). All Updaw descendents are welcome.
