| I am researching the Long family of Lee and Itawamba counties in Mississippi. George Long was born about 1780 in North Carolina. He had the following known children William Evan, Wade Hampton, Richard C., George Hamby and maybe others. George came to Mississippi in the early 1830's from Alabama. I have been unable to find who he married. He may have been married more than once. Wade Hampton was my gr gr grandfather. It has been told that he was married three times, first to Nancy Jane Coleman. Who were his other wives? He first appeared on the 1850 Pontotoc Co. MS census. I have been unable to located him on the 1860 or 1870 census. Where did he go? He shows up again on the 1880 census in Union Co. MS. Would appreciate any help. |
