Hello & greetings from Bob Ussery from Byron, Michigan.Part of my family migrated to Michigan from Arkansas in the early 1970's. During the late 1970's most of my family moved back South (Texas); but I remained behind. Now and again Ireseach my family heritage and greatly appreciate both your interest and cooperation when we can work together. Of specific interest to us is how our Ussery line connects to the Usserys from Walker County, Alabama during the early 1800's. As most Ussery genealogy researcher's soon learn, there is considerable missing information during this time due to the War of 1812 and the "land rush" after the war.The native Indians supported the British during that war and after America won, the Indians were punished by America by being driven off of their native lands. This action lead to the "Trail of Tears" and an immediate land rush where many Usserys, including we believe our line, participated. Key information to my line are; ________ Ussery & Elizabeth (b.1802?) BENSON, Alabama. William D. Ussery (b. 1824?) Phillip Randolph Ussery (b. 1827 Walker County) Collumbia Ussery (b. 1830) Gerome Ussery (b. 1832) Morgan Lee Ussery (b. 1836) Marten Ussery (b. 1841) Nancy Ussery (b. 1844) Phillip Randolph Ussery & Nancy Jane Guice (b. 1832 Alabama) Ladocia Emeline Ussery (b. 1855) Masora Thene Ussery (b. 1857) Rufus Morgan Ussery (b. 1858) George W. Ussery (b. 1859) Phillip Giles Ussery (b. 1861) James M. Ussery (b. 1862) David E.W. Ussery (b. 1872) My male line is as follows; Philip Randolph Ussery, Philip Jiles Ussery, Rufus Norton Ussery, Junior Doyle Ussery. As I stated my particular line comes through Phillip Giles Ussery, but we are very interested in all of our distant cousins and relates and how the story unfolds.Phillip Giles Ussery migrated from Walker County Alabama to Arkansas after 1880.We think that Phillip Randolph Ussery migrated with him, but to date we cannot find any official death certificate or know where he ultimately came to rest. Key family names are MORGAN, BENSON, GUISE, & GILES.Our research to date shows Phillip Randolph Ussery owning land in Walker County, Alabama during the mid 1850's.His mother name seems to be Elizabeth (maiden name BENSON). We believe that William Ussery is part of our family line along with another Phillip Ussery who had multiple wives.Yet fitting in all the common "Phillips" & making sense out of the family links has yet to be clearly resolved by us!So if your family research links you to this same piece of the Ussery puzzle, we'd love to talk with you! Well, that's the start of our story and we look forward to sharing and learning with other Ussery researchers. We have a great family name and like many others it is rich with storys that make great conversations! Sincerely, Bob Ussery
