7. JOHN⁵ PASSMORE (HOUSEMAN⁴, ROBERT³, JOHN², GEORGE¹) was born March 16, 1807 in Washington County, Georgia, and died 1868 in Coffee County, Georgia. He married SARAH LEE.

John Passmore filed petitions to legitimatize four children of his as follows; Petition in Coffee Superior Court, Sept. Term, 1859, for his illegitimate son, Nathan, age 18 years, born by Harriet Lee; and petition granted May 1, 1865, in Coffee Superior Court, for his illegitimate children, Lawrence C., age 9 years, Priscilla, age 17 years, and Jane, age 14 years, born by Candis (Candance) Cato. Last three children seemed to continue to bear the Cato name notwithstanding the change of their anme for Cato to Passmore by court order. Lawrence C. Cato, born 1855, married Jane Smith, May 16, 1875; Priscilla, born 1850, married J.R. Wooten, and Jane, born 1852, married Ben F. Passmore. Who Nathan married is not known.

He was the contractor who built the first Coffee County Court House in 1854
