A historical site in Monroe Oregon. The sign reads as follows: "This variable pitch water wheel was installed in the Long Tom River in 1906 to power the grain & flour machinery at the Adam Wilhelm Flour Mill. It also powered an electric generator that was later installed to provide electricity to the mill & the Wilhelm & Sons department store at 5th and Commercial until 1925 when Mountain States brought electricity to Monroe.

George August Wilhelm erected the Gaiety Hall facing Front Street. The hall hosted many occasions including the annual Punkin Shows, dances and masquerade balls from 1922 to 1930. This handbill was for the punkin show in 1914 held at the Washburne skating rink.
