The Dea and Donald Families in CanadaUpdated August 27, 2002 |
***DEA*** James, John, and Dennis DEA (or O'DEA) came to Canada from County Limerick, Ireland in the 1820's. They settled in Port Daniel, in the Gaspe, Quebec. Dennis died without children, James' family remained in Quebec, and John's family moved out west to Alberta. John was my great great great grandfather. He married Bridget MOORE, but I have been able to discover little about her origins. Their son Michael followed his daughters and sons out west where his son-in-law, John DODD had helped to settle Innisfail, Alberta. Michael's wife Catharine (O)SULLIVAN has lead to even more connections with SULLIVANS and FLOWERS'. There is also a connection with the BURFORD family at http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/b/u/r/Thomas-G-Burford/ Grace DODD, daughter of Mary DEA (daughter of Michael DEA and Catherine SULLIVAN)and James DODD, married George BURFORD of that family. ***DONALD*** On my mother's side of the family, two Ancestor Reports include the names DONALD, SMITH, BROWN, CHARLTON, and KISSACK, among others, and add Scottish and Manx branches to my family tree. Sept. 2001: Descendants of James DONALD and Catherine MCINTOSH added. |
